Home Security System

Many homeowners will choose to have a security system installed when they purchase a new home. Although some find it unnecessary if they live in a particularly “safe” neighborhood, it is often a recommended purchase, if only to give peace of mind.

Installing a security system will depend upon what you desire most in terms of security. Most security systems will sound the alarm if there is:

  • Any glass is broken
  • A door or window opened
  • Unaccounted motion on the property
  • A water leak
  • Fire, heat, or smoke detection

Although a security system is typically installed to protect the home from intruders, the primary goal of any security system is to ensure that you and the other residents of the buildings are safe.
Once the alarm is sounded, a call will be put in to the proper authorities. There is often a call placed to the homeowner, and if there is no answer, an emergency crew will be dispatched.
In the case of elderly or disabled residents, a security feature can be installed to alert the authorities of any change in movement, including fluctuations in the major organs, such as the heart. There features are usually only installed if specifically requested and can be quite costly. If one of these features are desired, a check is recommended to see if any of it can be covered by health insurance.
